Robben Island journey

$nort. Track
Good day guys! I hope you feeling well and dope today listeners. So , I arose to go to school and during the school's lunch hours I heard music to my ears. My history teacher said “you have been chosen to represent Lesotho at the spring camp on an Island in Cape Town”. She said “Robben Island”! Guys! I was shocked and I was filled with so much joy not that I will be representing Lesotho but I will be able to finally go and experience Cape Town as a whole. Amazing, isn’t it? However, it was such short notice cause we had three weeks to prepare for everything. I told my parents as soon as I got home and OFC! They complained as any black African parent would cause we had to pay for our transport to Robben Island. Moving on, it came the day of departure and the enthusiasm of travelling was head above heals but pals imagine 15hours on the road yoh! For instance, your bank card being full again after months of being hungry. Okay! So, on the way it was really fun all the usual stuff like music, dancing and of course the beat part, sleeping

. To set the ball rolling, when I tell you mu good people what I imagined became entirely different thing in reality. When we got to Robben Island, They tied us up like prisoners to symbolise how political prisoners of South Africa felt being at the Robben Island prison. We were leaned against the wall and we had to make our way to the main entrance, neighing and whinging like horses. There is an ambassador by the name “Carter”, Yoh! That guy made you feel that you are a prisoners about to face hardships. Not gonna lie, it really was beneficial though. The ambassadors then took us to a dark room and locked us up in there. They thought we were going to give up and keep quiet but no ways we started singing African songs to show unity mind due I barely knew anyone there. As we proceeded, I headed on to Bath myself cause I had to freshen up. I thought we will be sleeping individually in rooms but we slept in bunked beds with about 26 mattress in one room but I won’t lie it was fun even though it was too stuffy. Later on, the second day we woke up, exercised and bathed the we presented out pre task researches for the whole day.

The following day it was sports we did play various games like soccer, basketball and netball, and I was literally so tired that day since I played both soccer and basketball. I went further to listening to the NYPAD program which us about displayed, self esteem and standing firm on your decisions later that night we had different electives to choose and I opted for radio and podcast.

As for today, we woke up at around 05:00a.m. and got ready and water ran out so some had to bath with cold water. We went to the knowledge hunt which I am so thankful for. It taught us unity, teamwork and discipline.
